Life and writing
Jan. 18th, 2007 04:17 pmOn completing the carpet cleaning, I returned to the hall and discovered, my dear Watson, the Footprint of a Gigantic Hound.
Dog charged back in, covered in mud. Rugby tackled dog and forcibly towelled him. Dog, shrieking like a girl, attempted escape but was tackled again. I cleaned the carpet, also again, while the dog phoned Amnesty International, and we finally have a presentable house.
If I hadn't had to take the cleaner back to the hardware shop, I would not have gone out: a gale like an express train is sweeping over the moors. We are battening the hatches. Chicken stock is simmering. T is making candles. I have hit 34K on Shadow Pavilion and aiming at 35K by the end of the day. But I am taking the evening off: plans are to make banana bread and finish reading C E Murphy's THUNDERBIRD FALLS. A light read, but fun.
