Someone has taken over a fish and chip shop in the little town of Tewkesbury, near my parents'. But he has realised that the place does not have, and never has had, planning permission. He's therefore had to apply for it.

The chip shop has been running illegally. Since 1930.

The town council are said to be 'sympathetic.'
