The universal language of the blues
Jun. 11th, 2007 11:20 pmWe went out last night, to the blues jam at the Riflemans' (a pub of a nature such that there will be a moment of silent shock and awe if you announce that someone you know has been banned from it). A friend of ours, who is a blues musician, has recently moved down from the north and is trying his hand at various venues. Thus we had the pleasure of seeing a newcomer move from initial suspicion ('it's one song only. No guitar.') to: 'Do you know any more? Have you brought your guitar with you? Would you like to do another one?' as A effortlessly directed the backing band and brought an entire pub into a rendition of Bright Lights, Big City.
After this, T and I achieved Birthday Dinner, postponed from last week, at the local Chinese restaurant. Excellent.
