Swiped from a f-locked post, so I won't reveal...
20 Years Ago, I...
...was just starting a MA in Cognitive Science at Sussex. I lived in a little house on Brighton racecourse, with an immense view over the sea and the Downs. In a couple of weeks' time, there would be the UK's worst storm for many years, which I slept through but which prompted me to remark, on opening the curtains and seeing a blown-over truck, that if it was always this windy in Woodingdean, I might have to move.
15 Years Ago, I...
...was finishing my doctorate, and moving into the seaside flat which C and I would share until his death. I still own the flat.
10 Years Ago, I...
...had just come back from Kazakhstan, and was beginning a job as a PA and starting to consider writing professionally. I think I sold my first story in 97.
5 Years Ago, I...
...was becoming worried that C was still suffering from headaches, which would turn out to be a brain tumour and which would kill him. I'd had novels published by then. We were planning a trip to Nantes, to the Utopiales convention, and I was about to start a course in shamanic druidry with Emma Restall-Orr.
2 Years Ago, I...
...was in the process of moving to Somerset and into the house owned by my new partner, with all my stuff in storage.
1 Year Ago, I...
...was dealing with running a business and my current partner's treatment for cancer. T was part-way through radio and chemo this time last year. Also, we got a radio show.
So far this year, I've...
...bought a new business, GOhd at a convention in the States, returned to Venice, signed a movie option, and done much else besides which for the moment eludes me. Also I became human-in-parentis to Sid, which is worthy of much note.
Yesterday, I...
...went to a wedding and helped arrange a funeral. It rained.
Today, I...
...cleaned the house, bought fish at the farmers' market, had an exciting trip to B&Q to purchase lightbulbs (it's not all publisher's parties, y'know), cooked, hosted a radio show, and did some writing. I also failed to install a new dishwasher. It's raining.
Tomorrow, I'll...
...do another radio show in the morning, visit Wells market and some friends for lunch, renew our racetrack membership, and hold a staff meeting. If all goes to plan.
