The backness of back
Mar. 29th, 2007 02:49 pmLovely to be away, and great to be back (I'm really just happy to be off-an-aircraft. The leg space is hell if you're tall, and probably hell if you aren't, as well). We've been catching up and doing laundry, that kind of thing, but really just pottering, because T managed to deal with a whole load of email when we were away, and so did I, thanks to other people's wifi. I just cooked pasta and pancetta and garlic, with parsley from the garden. Lots of flowers out and the hawthorn is coming out in the hedgerows.
The dogs did that 'OMG! OMG!!!' thing when we arrived. Not so the cat.
Sid: 'Hmmm, you appear vaguely familiar. Haven't we met somewhere before? Oooh! A daffodil!' - and wandered off.
Later, all the dogs and Sidney accompanied me down to the horse paddock. It's only recently dawned on Sid (who did not venture far during the winter) that there is a large horse-shaped thing on his territory. He walked up very carefully and peered at Jasper, who peered back. Then he decided this was all a bit much and capered about with the dogs instead.
My parents' gas stove has been fixed: something wrong with the outlet valves, apparently. A relief.
Tomorrow: we're going to make a start on making some bookshelves. Hooray! Those of you in NYC were told the story of the kitchen cabinet that no longer opens, because the weight of boxes of books above it has bowed the ceiling above.
