My friend B has been in town doing book and CD signings over the last few days. In the car park, she met a ginger and white cat.

Cat: Hello!
B: Hello, cat! [B makes fuss of cat, opens car, puts books in etc)
B drives off.
Halfway to our village:
Cat: Hello!
B: Omigod! [B turns round, sees cat sitting on back seat]
Cat: I like you!
B: Omigod, I've catnapped you! [steps on gas, turns car round, returns cat to car park].
Cat's reaction not recorded.

A cat that voluntarily rides in a car? Wow. (I'm also amused.)

Butbutbut, I choose YOU! Mrrow!

Aww! B got chosen! Mrrow! That's funny!

It's too bad that B didn't decide to keep Kitty -- Kitty certainly chose B! Then again, Kitty's regular human family might have issue with that...if Kitty has one, of course.

Years ago, I got chosen by a rottweiler I spotted on the side of the road -- I think he was just terrified of the cars, and was thrilled someone opened a car door. Thankfully, his owner came by while I was settling the pooch into my car and took him back. Sweet doggy. Apparently, he'd jumped out of the back of the truck, and normally he didn't do things like that. Something must have spooked him.

I hope nobody had just dumped the cat in the carpark (I'm afraid that's the first thing I think of when I see a cat in places like that).

That's letting the side down, isn't it? Didn't your friend B think of posterity?

That's lovely :)

A friend of ours unwittingly took a neighbour's cat on a daytrip to Leeds. Didn't even realise, until they saw an oddly familiar cat heading towards the shopping centre, apparently in need of new experiences.

I would have loved to see them doing a combat crawl round the place calling, 'Probably! Probably! We have treats!' trying to get him back.

This is how our Charlie joined our family 16.5 years ago. Husband saw small cat crawling around the street, stopped, opened car door to see if cat was ok, cat jumped in car, cat crawled under front seat and wouldn't come out until husband parked the car at our house.

When elder cub moved in with me her belongings arrived as a part load in a removal van a few weeks later, together with a cat we did not recognise. I think this happens to removal firms quite often - they took it back to where they thought it had come from and hoped for the best.
