Start the week

I spent yesterday at work in a witchcraft shop, but not our witchcraft shop, which may confuse you and certainly confused a lot of customers. More later. T had to go out to some Druidic thing last night but I finished work too late, then came home and had a quiet evening with the cats and Harry Potter. No spoilers, but I did enjoy it (might have benefited from some editing, though).
Today, I'll be driving down to Brighton (in pouring rain, what a surprise) to start the teaching assignment at Sussex, and staying with friends until Wednesday, a pattern which will be repeated over the next 4 weeks. This should be good, apart from the rain bit. Normally, I like rain (it seeps slowly through the veins of the British) but this is a bit much, chaps, and now my poor parents, who live in Gloucester, are ironically without mains water until Wednesday because the nearby town of Tewkesbury has cut off the mains (I think this is to prevent contamination, because most of Tewkesbury is under water right now). My parents, having been through the war, are sanguine about this, but I am rather worried. However, my dear friend J has offered help if they need it, so bless her.
