We have completely lost track of what day it is. I'm calling it New Year's Eve and we'll sort it out later.

With that in mind, I hope everyone has a very happy New Year. We are planning to do absolutely nothing tonight and will probably go to bed before midnight. I've never been able to get excited about New Year, for some reason, even before I started adopting a calendar that had it 2 months ago.

I am working today.

Quote from small child whose parents have just bought him a candle:

"How do you turn it on?"

More on GREAT LEAP today, with a proposition one cannot refuse and the kidnapping of a family familiar.

Other than that I am about to crack on with some of the Inter Zone submissions. And I am pardonably smug because we just ran through the accounts and December is nearly 50% up compared to last year. Long may it continue. Also, one of the charity shops* in the town is closing (to make way for non-charity shops, for a change) and I picked up a wine-coloured top for 70p and a 3 book Carl Hiaasen omnibus for 65p.

(*Oxfam is known to a friend of mine as 'our usual boutique.' I very rarely buy new clothes.)

Early-to-bed plans somehow got cancelled by the appearance of a lodger with a bottle of champagne. That's never bad.

In the meantime, you can treat me as a person bearing virtual coal, an internet first-footer, soot-faced but with benign intent.
