There is a most unseemly pre-Beltane display on the opposite roof, plus the seagull equivalent of "Oh YES YES YES!" I have had to avert my gaze.

I have been up to London today, and am now back. The new laptop enjoyed its Big Day Out, though it died in East Croydon. Who can blame it? I also got to see the inside of the e-Govt building, with its Tarzanesque indoor jungle. Geoff R informs me that the plashing fountains used to boast an inflatable rubber frog, but someone insisted they get rid of it. Bureaucrats.

Otherwise the city is foul: lost in the April murk. I have decided that the Williams wardrobe has become too Bohemian of late, so at Victoria I honed my combat shopping skills and in that emporium of style* bought a new suit in 15 minutes: black, with a ribbon tie, for those who care about such things.

Thanks to the iBook, I have cranked out 2K today and am still going. Writing group in Reigate tonight.

*OK, Dorothy Perkins.

Roaring towards the final scenes: should be another 3-4K to go and then this draft is finished, with an estimated 10 K to be included in the revision. I will be pleased to finish this book, but meanwhile it is giving me a context in which to trash London, so yay.

Book deal

I've just been given the green light to announce the good news: I have a new 2 book deal with Tor Macmillan (UK) for the sequel to the forthcoming DARKLAND (the third book set in the GHOST SISTER universe) and a new novel which is currently under the title of The Oracle of the World, but which will probably be called THE VANISHED.

The sequel is half written already, but will be undergoing radical changes.

TV is scaring the hell out of me, because it's a more ambitious book than I've attempted so far. But that's a good thing.

To celebrate, I've just made miso soup and will be going to writing group. We know how to party here, dudes!
