Writing and life
Oct. 16th, 2006 02:24 pmNot so much writing, as submitting, today. I am in the process of brushing the hair of a number of short stories, straightening their collars and making sure that they have a clean hanky, before sending them out into the world this evening. I have also been catching up on some of the InterZone reading.
In other news, drove back from Gloucester on Friday morning, drove to Wells, drove back from Wells, and in the evening got into the car to meet D and N. Turned on the ignition. Nothing happened. Not even a cough. Turned off ignition and removed key, got out of car, and all the lights plus the radio came on full blast. Cue Twilight Zone gasp of horror, swiftly followed by speculations about the state of the alternator. Clearly, the battery is flat. Oh joy.
However, I have now been paid an advance, which I think is going to vanish into the mighty coffers of the people who make Land Rover. I've had the KA for 5 years. It's been a very good town car and, indeed, got myself and
vincam all the way to the Outer Hebrides. But enough is enough.
