Meanwhile, back at the movies

I am very pleased to say that SNAKE AGENT has been optioned for film, by an independent company in NYC who have had material through Paramount and the Sci Fi Channel (IIRC).
As you know, Bob, getting an option doesn't mean that the film will ever be made. But it's a start, and we're all delighted that this novel, known for so many years as the 'Chinese Detective Story', might see the screen in some form. This was a novel that everyone in publishing loved, but no one knew how to place - until Night Shade Books took a chance on it. Let's hear it for the risk-taking indies, eh?

Date: 2007-07-18 09:36 am (UTC)I know I'd lvoe to see that movie made, and made well. (And thank goodness we live in the Age of CGI, which makes that possible.)
But whether or not it actually gets made. . .Hey! Free money!
Congratulations!
Esther

Anyway...
Thanks for the great read!

Date: 2007-08-05 03:28 pm (UTC)Huzzah! I've only just started reading Snake Agent, but I had to stop by and tell you how wonderful it is. I've been plagued by some not-so-great books this summer, so finding your excellent book was a thrill. It's the kind of book that I force myself to read slowly, because it's too good to rush through.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to indulge in just one more chapter. :D

Date: 2007-08-19 01:39 am (UTC)For us common folk who cannot afford limited editions:
Hope Nightshade will eventually offer the Inspector Chan short stories in a single volume.
Hope Liz will hop across the pond one day to do a reading and a signing.
Congratulations for the film option/ TV series. The actor playing Xerxes in 300 would be wonderful as the demon partner.
PS sorry for signing on as anon. Too many accounts and too little memory.
